Terms of Service

Effective date: 2026-07-23. These Terms are a binding agreement between you and BenchIQ ("BenchIQ", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.

1. The service

BenchIQ is a hockey coaching platform: a drill editor, video analysis tools, a content library, practice planning, team management, athlete development features, and related services. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. Some features require a paid plan; free tiers, trials, and feature sets may change.

2. Accounts & eligibility

You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure — you're responsible for activity on your account. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent where you live) to create an account. Youth athletes may be represented on the platform by a parent or legal guardian; where an athlete is a minor, the guardian accepts these Terms on the athlete's behalf and controls consents (media, public profiles, film submissions).

3. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you create or upload — drills, plans, playbooks, video, photos, and posts ("User Content"). You grant BenchIQ a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, display, and distribute your User Content solely to operate and improve the service (for example: rendering thumbnails, transcoding video, delivering content to teammates you share it with).

If you publish content to the BenchIQ community, you additionally grant BenchIQ and other users the right to view, run, and (where the feature allows) copy that content within the platform, with attribution. You can unpublish at any time; copies other users already made remain theirs.

You are responsible for your User Content: you must have the rights to upload it (including rights to video footage and images of others, and any required consents for minors appearing in it).

4. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the service. Among other things, you may not: upload unlawful, infringing, hateful, or sexually explicit material; harass or bully anyone (this is a youth-sports platform — we enforce this strictly); attempt to access other accounts or teams; probe, disable, or overload our systems; scrape or resell the service; or misrepresent your affiliation. We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Plans, payments & renewals

Paid plans (such as Basic, Pro, and Athlete+) are billed in advance through our payment processor, Stripe, and renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless canceled. You can cancel anytime; your plan stays active through the end of the paid period. Except where required by law or expressly stated, fees are non-refundable. Prices may change with notice effective at your next renewal. Taxes may apply. If a payment fails we may downgrade or suspend paid features after a grace period; your content remains yours.

6. Film Study & one-time purchases

Some services are purchased per use (for example Film Study, where a coach reviews a submitted clip). A film review may be provided either by BenchIQ(through its partner analysts) or by the athlete's own coach, where that coach offers a film service. Coaches offering a film service set their own price and turnaround; payments are processed by Stripe, the coach is paid when the review is delivered, and BenchIQ retains a handling fee from each transaction. Coaches and partner analysts providing reviews are independent providers/contractors, not employees or agents of BenchIQ.

These purchases are for a professional opinion and coaching feedback only: BenchIQ makes no promise of athletic results, scouting exposure, recruitment, or roster outcomes. You may cancel for a full refund before the review begins. If a review is not delivered within its stated turnaround (plus a short grace window), the purchase is refunded automatically. If submitted footage is unusable we may reject the submission and refund it; after a review is delivered the purchase is final except where the law says otherwise.

7. Coaching disclaimer

BenchIQ provides software and content tools — not medical, safety, or professional athletic advice. Drills, plans, fitness metrics, and analyses are informational. Coaches and guardians are responsible for the safety, supervision, and physical readiness of their athletes. Consult qualified professionals before acting on training or fitness information.

8. Privacy & minors

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. Features that expose an athlete publicly (public profiles, share links) are off by default and require an adult athlete's or guardian's explicit action. Guardians can revoke consents and request deletion of a minor's data.

9. Termination

You may stop using BenchIQ and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access (with notice where practicable) for violations of these Terms, legal requirements, risk to other users, or non-payment. On termination your license to use the service ends; provisions that by their nature survive (content licenses for already-shared copies, disclaimers, liability limits, dispute terms) survive.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT CONTENT WILL NEVER BE LOST — KEEP COPIES OF ANYTHING IRREPLACEABLE.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BENCHIQ WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND (B) US $50. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITS, SO SOME OF THESE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

12. Indemnification

You will defend and indemnify BenchIQ against claims arising from your User Content, your use of the service in violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights (including filming or publishing footage of others without permission).

13. Disputes & arbitration

Before filing a claim, contact us — most issues can be resolved informally. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally will be settled by binding individual arbitration, and you waive the right to participate in a class action, except where such waivers are unenforceable. Small-claims court remains available for qualifying disputes.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For material changes we'll notify you in the app or by email, and continuing to use BenchIQ after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms. The current version is always at this page.
