Chase-the-Leader Starts

Half IceIntermediate1v1Skating/EdgesBattles/Compete
Objective: First-three-strides acceleration with a rabbit to catch — starts get honest when someone is chasing. Setup: Pairs on the goal line, leader half a body ahead in the next lane. Cone at the far end of the lane. Execution: On 'go' both sprint; the chaser hunts a glove-tag on the leader before the cone. Crossover start, punch start, and forward start — coach calls the start type each rep. Swap roles every rep; best of three, loser leads the stretch. Coaching points: First three strides are short, violent, and turned out — long strides come later. Body angle forward 45 degrees off the start; standing tall is standing still. Chaser: run the blades, don't glide — you have half a body to make up.
