Cross-Ice 2v2 Change-on-the-Fly

Cross-Ice / Small AreaIntermediate2v2Small-Area GamesConditioning
Objective: 2v2 compete with hockey's hidden skill: changing on the fly without dying. Setup: Playing area = one full zone. Small nets (or cones) on the walls. Two teams benched at the blue line. Execution: 2v2 inside the zone; on the coach's whistle BOTH teams change on the fly. Subs must touch gloves at the blue line; the puck stays live the whole time. 40-second shifts max — sprinting on and off is part of the game. Coaching points: Change when YOUR team has the puck or it's deep — never on defense in the middle. First man on talks: who's got the puck-carrier. Losers push the nets back after each game.
