D-Zone Low Collapse Coverage

D-ZoneIntermediate5v5Backcheck/D-ZoneTeam Systems
Objective: Five-man low collapse: below the dots everyone tightens to the house; the point shot is given, the slot never is. Setup: Defensive five in coverage vs a cycling attack. Walk the collapse triggers, then live cycle reps. Execution: When the puck goes below the dots, both wingers sag to the crease-line and the box tightens to the house. Strong-side D pressures the cycle; C supports him — always two on the wall, three protecting the middle. Puck to the point = wingers explode OUT as a unit; shot lanes close before the shot. Coaching points: The slot is sacred — number one job is bodies and sticks in the house. Collapse means five players see the puck AND their man — head on a swivel. Explode out together on point shots; one late winger = screened goalie.
