Heel-to-Heel 10-and-2 Lanes
Half IceAdvanced1v0Skating/Edges
Objective: Sprint, open to 10-and-2, snap closed, sprint again — hip mobility at hockey speed. Setup: Two lanes of cone pairs across the zone. One line each end so lanes run both directions. Execution: Three hard strides into the first cone pair, then open heel-to-heel (10-and-2) and glide the gap. Snap the hips closed at the second cone and sprint to the next pair. Down on the right hip opening, back on the left; add a puck carried out front once smooth. Coaching points: The snap closed matters more than the open — explode back into stride. Weight centered over both blades in the glide; leaners fall out of it. Keep the glide dead straight — drifting sideways means one edge is cheating.
