Inside-Edge Slalom Snake
U8U10Cross-Ice / Small AreaBeginner1v0Skating/Edges
Objective: Long, loaded inside-edge pushes — the first real skating skill — carved cone to cone. Setup: Five cones in a zig-zag down one side of the zone. Line of players in the corner, 5-second gaps. Execution: Skate the slalom leaning into each cone on one long inside edge — no extra choppy steps. One push per cone: load the edge, ride it, push into the next arc. Round two with a puck; round three as a two-player race on parallel courses. Coaching points: Bend the knees until the shin pads touch the boot — the edge holds when you sit into it. One powerful push beats four little ones. Head up at the next cone, not down at the ice.
