Lock the Backside Lane
O-ZoneHalf IceAdvanced3v2Forecheck
Objective: F1 and F2 make the noise; F3 makes the steal — own the backside lane and every escape pass dies. Setup: Two breakout defenders vs a three-man forecheck. Coach spots pucks to the strong corner. Execution: F1 forces the retrieval; F2 seals the strong wall below the goal line. The only exit left is the over pass to the weak-side D — that lane belongs to F3. F3 shades the backside, picks off the escape pass, and the unit attacks off the turnover. Coaching points: F3 reads the retriever's eyes and blade — cheat toward where the pass MUST go. Stay above the weak-side D: intercept moving downhill, never flat-footed. If the over pass stops coming, F3 sinks in and the forecheck becomes a swarm.
