Mohawk Gate Series
Half IceAdvanced1v0Skating/Edges
Objective: Open the hips through gates at speed — mohawks turn defenders' blind spots into your exits. Setup: Three cone gates staggered across the zone. Line of players in the corner. Execution: Attack each gate with speed and open heel-to-heel THROUGH it — a true mohawk, not a pivot. Close the hips on the far side and sprint to the next gate. Alternate which hip opens; add a puck once the feet stop thinking. Coaching points: Heels together, toes pointing opposite walls — commit to the open position. Chest and eyes stay up-ice the entire time; only the hips rotate. Speed through the gate is the test — slowing down to open up means more reps.
