Race to the Dump

O-ZoneFull IceIntermediate1v1ForecheckBattles/Compete
Objective: Every dump-in is a 50/50 race — win it, and the job you do next depends on which jersey you wear. Setup: Coach dumps a puck into the corner from center. A forward and a defender race from the blue line on the whistle. Execution: Both players sprint on the whistle; the dump is placed so the race is honest. Forward wins: protect, cycle to the wall, and hold offensive-zone possession for five seconds. Defender wins: shoulder check, escape, and break out past the dots. Loser forechecks or backchecks immediately. Coaching points: Take the inside lane — the shortest path to the puck wins most races. Arrive with a plan: know your next touch before your first touch. The rep isn't over at the puck — the five seconds after decide who really won.
