Red Light, Green Light Stops
U6U8Cross-Ice / Small AreaBeginner1v0Skating/Edges
Objective: Two-foot stops disguised as a game — the fastest way to get little skaters stopping both ways. Setup: Everyone spread along one wall facing the coach. Coach in the middle of the ice. Execution: Green light: skate across the ice. Red light: full two-foot snowplow or hockey stop. Anyone still gliding on red takes three steps back. First skater to touch the far wall wins; play it again stopping with the OTHER hip to the coach. Coaching points: Both skates stop — one-foot draggers go back. Knees bend BEFORE the stop; tall skaters tip over. Sneaky slow starts lose — explode on every green.
