Saucer Over the Stick
U12Cross-Ice / Small AreaBeginner1v0Passing
Objective: Learn the saucer pass with a real obstacle — up, over, and landing flat past it. Setup: Pairs about 28 feet apart with a cone (or a stick on the ice) midway between them. One puck per pair. Execution: Saucer the puck over the obstacle to your partner — it must land FLAT and past it. Ten each, then back up five feet and repeat. Competition round: first pair to ten clean catches wins. Coaching points: The puck rolls heel-to-toe off the blade — that spin makes it land flat. Low and hot beats high and floaty — clear the stick by inches, not feet. Receivers: soft hands, give with the puck; a wobbly saucer still counts if you kill it.
