Saucer to the Breakout Winger
Full IceNeutral ZoneIntermediate1v0PassingTransition
Objective: Game-situation saucer: lift it over a defender's stick lane to a winger breaking through neutral ice. Setup: D with pucks at the top of the D-zone, passive stick (defender) in the lane, wingers starting on the far wall. Execution: Winger breaks across the neutral zone, timing his route to stay onside and moving. D saucers over the stick in the lane — the puck lands flat in front of the winger. Winger takes it in stride, attacks wide, and finishes with a shot. Coaching points: Saucer dies flat PAST the stick — a bouncing pass kills the speed you built. Lead the man: pass to where his blade will be, not where he is. Receiver never breaks stride — adjust with your feet, not by waiting.
