Stick-on-Puck Mirror

U10U12Cross-Ice / Small AreaBeginner1v1Backcheck/D-Zone
Objective: Defending starts with the stick — mirror the carrier inside a circle and steal with the blade, not the body. Setup: One pair per faceoff circle, one puck. Carrier moves freely inside the circle; defender mirrors him. Execution: Carrier stickhandles and cuts inside the circle for 20 seconds. Defender stays square, mirroring with his stick blade on or near the puck at all times. Steals only count with a flat blade — no lunging, no body. Swap roles every 20 seconds. Coaching points: Blade flat on the ice, top hand out front — poke from a base, not a dive. Move your feet to stay square; reaching means your feet stopped. Watch the chest, hunt the puck: body tells you where, stick does the work.
