Weave and Trail
Full IceNeutral ZoneBeginner1v0TransitionPassing
Objective: The classic three-man weave with a modern finish: the late defenseman trails the rush and walks in for the shot. Setup: Three forward lines on the goal line, a D line on the wall. Groups of four leave together. Execution: Three forwards weave through the neutral zone — pass and follow behind the receiver. The D trails the play quietly up the middle, staying 20 feet behind the rush. At the far blue line the puck carrier delays and drops it to the trailer — D walks in and shoots with three bodies at the net. Coaching points: Weave passes are FLAT and in stride — the drill dies when players glide to wait. Trailer: stay patient and hidden; arrive late, not early. After the drop, all three forwards drive the net — tips and rebounds live.
