Fake-and-Take Gates

Half IceIntermediate1v0Puck Control
Objective: Deception mechanics on rails: sell one side of a gate with the whole body, take the other. Setup: Two cone gates staggered through the zone. Players with pucks in a line at the wall. Execution: Attack the first gate with speed and fake through one post — head, shoulders, and puck all sell it. Cut and take the other post in one move; sprint to the next gate. Alternate which side you fake; round three the coach stands behind the gate and calls the open side late. Coaching points: Sell it slow, take it fast — the fake has a pause in it, the move doesn't. The upper body lies, the puck follows: shoulders turn INTO the fake. Accelerate through the take side; a fake without a speed change fools nobody.
