Screen, Shoot, Recover

O-ZoneHalf IceIntermediate1v0Shooting/Scoring
Objective: Teach the full net-front job: build the screen, hold it through the shot, then hunt the rebound. Setup: D with pucks at the point, screener at the net-front, next screeners waiting on the wall. Execution: Screener establishes at the top of the crease, stick on the ice, eyes on the release. D shoots low through the screen; the screener holds position until the puck arrives. On the save, screener releases short-side and attacks the rebound; rotate every three pucks. Coaching points: Feet OUTSIDE the blue paint — screen the eyes, not the goalie's skates. Never turn your back to the shot; watch the release through the whole rep. The rebound release goes short-side first — that is where pads push pucks.
