Slot Heat Finishes

Objective: Finish from the slot with a checker closing — catch, escape one direction, release through the layer. Setup: Passer with pucks on the goal line, shooter in the slot, checker starting above him and closing on the pass. Execution: Passer feeds the slot; the checker sprints to close the moment it leaves. Shooter catches with his feet moving, makes ONE escape cut, and releases. Goal or not, the rep ends in one second — next puck immediately. Rotate on five. Coaching points: Catch with feet already moving — a flat-footed catch dies here. One cut, not two: the second cut is where checkers catch you. Release through the checker's feet or stick triangle — use the layer as a screen.
