Neutral-Zone Draw to Speed
Neutral ZoneFull IceIntermediate5v5FaceoffsTransition
Objective: Turn a neutral-zone win into an entry with speed — the puck moves north within two seconds of the drop. Setup: Full alignment at a neutral-zone dot. Run the scripted win, then alternate live draws. Execution: C wins the draw back to D1, who catches it already scanning. Both wingers release on the drop — building speed through the neutral zone, staying onside. D1's first touch hits the near winger in stride; he attacks wide and finishes with a shot. Coaching points: Wingers leave ON the drop — the half second of anticipation IS the play. D1 catches side-on so the up pass needs no extra pivot. If the lane is dead, D1 changes sides — speed with possession beats a forced entry.
