1-4 High Spread Power Play

O-ZoneAdvanced5v5Power PlayTeam Systems
Objective: The spread: one QB up top, four across the middle of the zone — stretch the PK flat, then attack downhill through the seams. Setup: QB alone at the point; four teammates in a flat line across the tops of the circles. Works best against pressure PKs. Execution: QB holds the puck high and invites the press — the four across pin every killer to a lane, so pressure on the QB always opens a seam. Trigger: the presser commits = QB hits the open middle-seam man, who attacks downhill immediately into a 2-on-1 low. Weak-side wide man times a backdoor cut on every downhill attack — his tap-in is the second option on the same read. Coaching points: Use it when: the PK pressures your point — the spread turns their aggression into odd-man attacks; against a passive box, flow into your set formation instead. What beats it: a PK that stays home and forces the QB to shoot from distance — so the QB needs a credible shot to sell everything. Catch seam passes moving north — a flat-footed catch lets the box reset and the advantage dies.
