D-to-D + Wall Outlet
D-ZoneHalf IceIntermediate1v0PassingBreakout
Objective: Groove the first two passes of every breakout: D-to-D, then the wall outlet in stride. Setup: Two defensemen below the dots, a winger on the half wall, a center swinging. Coach spots pucks behind the net. Execution: D1 retrieves, shoulder checks, and moves it D-to-D to change the point of attack. D2 walks two steps and hits the winger on the wall — tape height, board side. Winger touches to the swinging center and the trio exits the zone. Coaching points: Shoulder check BEFORE the puck arrives. D-to-D is firm and flat — never a rainbow. Winger opens hips to the ice so the touch pass goes forward, not back.
