DZ Breakout - Against 1-2-2 Forecheck

U16D-ZoneIntermediateAdvanced5v5Breakout
Beating the 1-2-2 Forecheck - One option is for D1 to retrieve the puck and skate behind the net towards D2. While the opponent initiates the forecheck, our team postures as if we are breaking the puck out of the strong side where D1 is carrying the puck. RW posts up, C swings low to support. Our D2 holds inside post position on the net for support. In some cases, D2 can set a pick on their 1st forechecker attacking pressuring our puck carrier. Now with the opponent loaded in their 1-2-2 forecheck to the strong side, our D1 reverses the puck behind the net for D2 to retrieve. D2 skates quick around the net and sends a hard pass up to our LW who is flying the zone immediately on the reverse. Now our LW has time and speed to exit the zone and fast break up the ice. On the reverse, our RW and C can follow LW pursuit up the ice for added pressure on the opposing D who are trying to transition and catch the fast break.
