Second Wave: D Joins the Rush

Full IceAdvanced1v0BreakoutTransition
Objective: Turn a clean exit into a numbers game — the weak-side D activates as the fourth man and finishes the rush. Setup: Standard breakout start: D1 with the puck, winger on the wall, center in the middle, D2 on the weak side. Execution: D1 hits the wall winger; winger carries and moves it to the center in the middle lane. The moment the exit is clean, D2 jumps into the vacated weak-side lane and skates the length. Center carries wide over the far blue and finds D2 arriving late for the one-timer. Coaching points: D2 jumps on the CLEAN exit read — turnover after activating is a 2-on-1 against. The fourth man fills the empty lane, never a lane a forward already owns. Late is great: arrive as the pass arrives, feet still moving, shot loaded.
