Quick-Up Under the Pinch
D-ZoneHalf IceAdvanced2v1BreakoutPassing
Objective: Beat the forecheck with speed of release: retrieve, quick-up, chip past the pinching D. Setup: D retrieving, winger on the wall, center in support — one forechecker chasing, coach as the pinching D. Execution: D retrieves with a forechecker closing and quick-ups the wall immediately — no extra touch. Winger reads the pinch: open = carry; pinched = chip behind off the wall. Center reads the chip and wins the race to it. Coaching points: The quick-up beats pressure that a perfect-but-slow pass doesn't. Winger's feet face UP ICE before the puck arrives. Chips are soft — off the wall to space, not hammered to icing.
