Five-Man Regroup River
Full IceNeutral ZoneIntermediate1v0RegroupTransition
Objective: The whole five-man unit regroups as one river: rim back, D-to-D, swing, and re-attack with three lanes filled. Setup: Five-man unit on the ice. Coach rims the puck back to D1 to trigger each regroup. Execution: Coach rims it back; D1 collects and moves it D-to-D immediately. All three forwards sink and swing with speed — center low strong-side, wingers stretch and fill. D2 hits the center in stride; unit attacks three-wide and finishes with a shot. Regroup again off the rim. Coaching points: Forwards never glide face-up waiting — sink LOW enough to receive moving north. D-to-D changes the side before the forwards arrive — timing, not speed. Three lanes on the re-entry: wide, middle, wide — no two men in one lane.
