Grip and Rip Mirror Draws
Half IceBeginner1v1FaceoffsBattles/Compete
Objective: Pure faceoff technique at volume — grip, stance, and four ways to win the same draw, one pair per dot. Setup: Pairs of centers at every dot on the half sheet, one puck each. Coach calls the technique for each round. Execution: Round 1: backhand pull — bottom hand low, cheat the back foot, rip to your own hip. Round 2: forehand sweep. Round 3: stick-lift counter. Round 4: feet-first tie-up when you lose the stick battle. Five reps per technique, alternate who 'wins' the timing, then rotate dots on the whistle. Coaching points: Win with the body before the stick — low stance, weight over the dot. Grip down the shaft on draws: choke up, palms in, elbows loaded. Losing the stick battle isn't losing the draw — feet and tie-ups win the scrum.
