OZ Draw: Back-Door Hammer
O-ZoneHalf IceAdvanced5v5FaceoffsShooting/Scoring
Objective: A scripted offensive-zone win that ends in a one-timer from the weak-side back door. Setup: Full alignment at an offensive-zone dot. Walk the play at half speed, then run it off live draws. Execution: C wins the draw to the wall winger — the normal, boring look everyone expects. The weak-side D sneaks down off the blue line the moment the puck is drawn. Winger's touch pass goes cross-slot to the sneaking D for a one-timer; net-front screen holds his ice. Coaching points: Sell normal: the wall win looks like a standard cycle until the hammer drops. D2 leaves ON the touch, not on the drop — early ruins the surprise and the offside... of the coverage. One-timer mentality: feet set, blade loaded before the pass arrives.
