PK Angles the Breakout
Neutral ZoneFull IceAdvanced4v3Penalty KillForecheck
Objective: Shorthanded forechecking is angling, not chasing — steer the PP breakout to the wall and burn their clock. Setup: PP unit breaks out 5-on-0 speed; the PK forwards and D set up in their kill forecheck. Rep the steer, then go live. Execution: The PP D carries up ice; PK F1 angles at the red line, steering him to the wall with a stick in the middle lane. F2 shadows the mid-ice outlet so the escape pass is never there. PK D hold the blue line with inside position — force the dump or the turnover, then change or clear. Coaching points: F1 never dives in — one angle, one wall, no seams behind him. The middle of the ice is closed for the whole kill; walls are the only road. A forced dump is a WIN — retreat as a unit and let the goalie set it.
