Stick-Lift Alley
Half IceBeginner1v1Battles/CompetePuck Control
Objective: Steal pucks the legal way: chase from behind, catch the hands, and lift the stick at the perfect moment. Setup: A cone lane down the ice. Carrier starts one stride ahead; checker chases from behind. Execution: Carrier skates the lane at 75% speed; checker closes from behind. Checker lifts the stick at the BOTTOM third of the shaft and takes the puck without body contact. Stolen puck = checker turns and attacks the other way; carrier chases back. Switch roles each rep. Coaching points: Lift at the bottom of the stick — lifting at the hands is a penalty waiting to happen. Time the lift to their stickhandle: lift when the puck leaves their blade. After the steal, separate immediately — two strides of daylight.
