Three-Second Exit

D-ZoneHalf IceElite5v5Breakout
Objective: Put the whole breakout on a clock — controlled possession out of the zone in three seconds, every rep. Setup: Five-man unit in the zone, two live forecheckers. Coach spots a puck anywhere low and counts down out loud. Execution: On the spot, D1 retrieves and the unit executes whatever exit the pressure gives them. Controlled possession over the blue line inside three seconds = rep counts. Icings, hope flips, and rims to nobody = repeat the rep. Rotate checkers every four reps. Coaching points: The clock forces the pre-scan — players who look after they get the puck are already late. Any exit is fine: wall, hinge, reverse, center swing. The read is the skill. Support arrives at angles, not straight lines — give the puck two exits at all times.
